Sports Track Hits The Waves in Caesarea

Recently, the Sports Track woke up at 8:30 to head over to Caesarea for a water sports trip. When we got there we split into two groups doing different activities. My group started with surfing, something many of us had never done before.  It was fun to watch everyone try to paddle out against the current, falling off their boards every time a wave would pass.  Some people actually succeeded to make it up onto their boards!

After lunch, the groups switched and I had the opportunity to windsurf-MUCH more fun than I expected.

But that wasn’t the whole day.  The tsofim (Israeli scouts) entertained us with a few games before we played basketball against a team of Israeli teenagers.

Later that night, some of us made friends with a group of locals who had BBQed earlier that night.  After talking for a few minutes, they shared their leftovers with us….chicken hot dogs and hummus.  It was so good!  A real example of Middle Eastern hospitality!

The next morning, we sailed and kayaked to the Old City of Caesarea where we then snorkeled.  Over all the whole trip was a blast and I can’t wait to see what we do next!  Check out the photos below”

“This is my first time in Israel. I hear things from the media and my parents back home, but I really had no idea what was actually going on here. So, to come here and do the army program, and meet Muslims who live in Israel, to see interactions and see what actually goes on here, it’s very eye-opening.” – Nathan Moussein, Minneapolis, MN
  • YC Alumni Say:

“ This program is truly one-of-a-kind, and the various lenses through which participants get to view Israel throughout the year make it a rewarding and dynamic nine months. ” - Sarah Pfander, Evanston , IL , Oberlin College
