Manhigut – The Leadership and Community Action Track
Manhigut is a program for those who want to make the most of every single opportunity both for themselves, and to make a real and lasting difference to the People and the State of Israel.
The 5 core elements of Manhigut are:
- Leadership Training
- Peer Leadership
- High Level Guest Speakers
- Group Volunteer Projects
- Personal Social Action Projects
Manhigut offers participants opportunities to:
- Engage in life-changing community action projects.
- Discover issues that you care passionately about and develop the skills to make an impact.
- Learn valuable leadership skills to take back to your community and campus.
- Design and run peer-led activities, projects and events.
- Be a part of a community of chanichim and staff that are committed towards supporting and challenging each other to make the most of every single day on Year Course.
Manhigut participants benefit from all of the same opportunities as the Classic Year Course program, spending a semester in each ofJerusalem,Bat Yamand Israel Experience. On top of regular Year Course activities, Manhigut offers a stimulating program of activities centered around the values of Zionism, Social Action, Tikkun Olam (Repairing The World), Hadracha (Leadership) and Kehilla (Community).
The Manhigut group will meet for special activities at least twice per week.
This year (2011-2012) Manhigut is placed in Section 1 but Manhigut could be placed in any of the sections next year. InJerusalem, instead of individual volunteering options, the Manhigut group will engage in a number of group volunteering projects. InBat Yam, Manhigut will also get together for one afternoon and one evening per week, on top of the regular Year Course schedule. In Israel Experience, the Manhigut schedule will be determined by the Israel Experience schedules of it participants, but the group will be brought together during the semester.
There is no additional fee to participate in the Manhigut Track. The only requirement is that you commit to full and active participation in the program. No prior involvement in Young Judaea or other related experience is necessary.
Additional activities may include:
- A private meeting with Mark Regev, Personal Spokesman for Prime Minister Netanyahu
- Food harvesting to donate to the needy
- Organising a public demonstration in support of Gilad Shalit
- A meeting in The Knesset with Knesset Member Einat Wilf
- Weekly Leadership Training Course
- A meeting with Harriet Levin, mother of American soldier Michael Levin who was killed in the 2006 Lebanon War
- Volunteering opportunities with the children at ‘Save A Child’s Heart’ and Hadassah Hospital Pediatric Oncology Unit
- The Great ‘Managing A Movement’ Simulation Game
- And Much Much More!
Manhigut is the perfect choice for students that are willing to sacrifice some of their free time, in favour of giving of themselves to make a positive difference in the lives of others, and who recognise the huge personal rewards that can be achieved through giving of oneself. Manhigut is designed for students that want to maximize their growth and impact while on Year Course.
